The High Trail Vanoise (HTV) started in 2016 and takes place in the Tarentaise Valley in southeastern France, five kilometers from the border with Italy. It essentially replaces the Ice Trail Tarentaise, which had been organized by the regional TPS trail running organization. The event offers six different races, including two of which are part of the international Skyrunning series: the High Trail Vanoise (72 km, solo or relay), Trail des 6 cols (41 km, solo or duo), Balcons de Val (20 km), Trail and Marche Solidaire Odyssea (9km), Kilometer Vertical (3.1 km) up the alpine ski trail of the ‘Face de Bellevard’ and the Trail Jeunes for children ages 7-11 years (1.4 km).

The HTV gives participants the unique opportunity to walk along the Grande Motte glacier at an altitude of 3,653 meters above the ski town of Tignes. Editor’s note: This race replaces Ice Trail Tarentaise.
