About the race

The Trail de l’Arclusaz takes place each November in Saint‑Pierre‑d’Albigny, in the Massif des Bauges, one of France’s national parks. The races offer three challenging courses, all starting near the town gymnasium.

The shortest, 11 km route features around 500 m of elevation gain, winding through local forest tracks and farm trails, and is designed for trail beginners and anyone looking for a shorter challenge. Next is the 17 km version, packing in approximately 900 m of climbing, routing runners over the Col du Frêne and across the Dent d’Arclusaz ridge, with a mix of single-track, woodland, and sweeping valley views. The 28 km course tackles a substantial 2,000 m of ascent, combining steep climbs, technical forest sections, and mountain passages, and offers a demanding but highly rewarding challenge for runners.

Coming near the close of November, the Trail de l’Arclusaz could work well for many trail runners who wrap up their season at this time of year, before their switch to winter sports. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Bauges and Combe de Savoie mountains, it should provide some nice trail running memories to power you through the winter months!
