About the race

The Trail de l’Étendard takes place in the heart of the French Alps, between the Oisans and Maurienne valleys near Le Bourg-d’Oisans and Saint-Sorlin-d’Arves, about two hours from Grenoble. This mountain race offers four distances, 65 km with 3,646m of elevation gain, 44 km with 3,085 m, 22 km featuring 1,584m of ascent, and 17 km with 531m of climbing, each showcasing alpine ridgelines, glacier-carved valleys, and high mountain lakes.

The longest course traverses the Étendard Glacier and passes near several alpine lakes, including Lac Blanc and Lac Bramant, while shorter routes wind through forests and rugged high pastures with panoramic views of the Pic de l’Étendard and surrounding peaks. Each route demands technical footwork, with steep ascents and descents across varied terrain.

Additional events for children and shorter distances complement the races. The event’s location offers alpine scenery and a blend of demanding climbs and breathtaking vistas, offering an accessible experience for mountain runners of all levels.
