The Trail Run Jenaz is a low-key, self-supported trail race in the Prättigau valley of Graubünden, Switzerland’s largest canton, located in the eastern Alps. The valley is known for its Alpkäse, a firm alpine cheese made each summer on the high pastures above the valley and can often be found in the local markets around the region.
Organized by the Trail-Maniacs club, the event leans into a back-to-basics ethos with minimal infrastructure, self-navigation, and self-supplied food and water. Runners are expected to carry their own provisions and find their own way.
The flagship Triple Ridge race covers 66km with 4,343m of elevation gain, traversing three distinct ridgelines and five peaks above the Prättigau valley floor on a long day out in the Graubünden Alps.
The Double Ridge is 43km with 2,783m of gain, crossing two of those ridgelines and three of those same peaks and offering a substantial challenge without the full commitment of the ultra distance.
The Single Ridge runs 32km with 2,158m of gain. The course is a ridgeline traverse that delivers a serious day of climbing and descending on mountain terrain.
The Ridgeless race is the shortest course at 19km with 1,270m of gain, staying lower in the landscape and serving as an accessible entry point to the event’s rugged character. A kids’ course of 1.3km is also available.
All distances depart from Jenaz, a village along the Landquart-Davos SBB rail line, reachable by train from Chur, the regional capital. Zurich is 90 minutes away by Switzerland’s train network.
