The Urschweizer Abendtrails, hosted by the Klewenalp Trail Association, is spread across three evening events, each with a 6 PM start time, this short-course race series invites runners to explore the rugged beauty of three Swiss cantons; Nidwalden, Schwyz, and Uri, each offering its own distinct terrain and atmosphere. The races take place not far from Lucerne, Switzerland.
The Nidwalden edition kicks off the series in Stans, nestled at the foot of the Stanserhorn. This 10.3 km course features 631 meters of climbing, winding through forested trails and pastures with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Next comes the Schwyz race, starting and finishing at the base of the Urmiberg cable car in Brunnen, right on the shores of Lake Lucerne. This course is a climber’s delight, packing 1,078 meters of ascent into just 10.1 km, a demanding but rewarding route with steep climbs and lake views.
The final stop is in Uri, where runners take on a scenic 6.6 km course with 645 meters of gain above the picturesque village of Attinghausen. This accessible route offers sweeping vistas and a festive atmosphere to close out the series.
