Trail des Dahus Sallanchards
About the race
Claim this race
Based in Sallanches at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif, the Trail des Dahus Sallanchards’ lead event is the Dahus Courtisans: a 26km / 1,500m pairs race that starts on Saturday afternoon and finishes by headlamp. Runners must cross the line together to be counted as finishers. The route is kept under wraps until shortly before race day, a deliberate choice by race organizers to protect local landowners and wildlife, so there’s no chance to preview the course.
The event also includes the Ultime Dahu Sallanchard, a “Last Runner Standing” format built on a 6.5km / 330m loop repeated once per hour for 24 hours, for a maximum distance and vert of 156km and 7,920m. The Dahus Affolés (15km / 900m) offers a solo option, and the Dahus Égarés (7.5km / 200m) is the shortest introduction to the region’s trails. Surrounded by views of the Mont Blanc range, runners can take in the beauty of Haute-Savoie forest trails and wildlife such as eagles, hawks and chamois.
Sallanches is roughly an hour from Geneva by car, with good rail connections as well. The town looks directly across to the summit of Mont Blanc and has long served as a practical commercial center for the communities in the area. The surrounding area is French Savoyarde through and through: it’s a land of fondue, raclette and reblochon cheese — perfect for refueling after your race, by the way!
