The inaugural edition of the Swiss Alps Endurance Run was in 2017. Within the canton of Valais, the racecourse starts and ends in Münster, a small town at the far east end of the Canton Valais. Race organizers describe the course as “mostly non-technical,” offering some “incredible panoramas and beautiful views” of the Swiss Alps, and they are not wrong! Both the 160km and 100km course takes you along the balcony trail overlooking the Aletsch Glacier (the largest glacier in Europe), a trail that has to be on every runner’s tick list.
You will also find a vertical race, an exciting “hike and fly” race for the paraglide piolets amongst us, as well as a 1km free kids race.
