Lights, camera, action! The Run the Alps x On short film grant is back!

We’re excited to announce that Run the Alps’ Trail Running Film Festival will be back for its fourth season in January 2026! Once again we are happy to partner with our great friends at On and Tailwind

Thanks to generous support from On, we’re now accepting applications for this year’s short film grant!

Pitch us your idea for a short film (5–10 minutes) with trail running in the Alps at its heart, and you could receive €5,000 to bring your story to life.

From spectacular locations and inspiring individuals, to niche races and FKT records, there are countless untold stories out there. Applications are open to everyone, regardless of film or trail experience.

The winning film will air as part of the Run the Alps Trail Running Film Festival in early 2026 and will be considered for pre-screening at the Kendal Mountain Festival, Europe’s premier adventure film event, in November 2025.

And there’s more!

This year, we’ll also be opening submissions for completed trail running films with an Alps focus—stay tuned for more details coming soon.

  • Information about you (and your team, if applicable)
  • A brief budget outline
  • Why you want to make this film

Note: Your film can be shot in any language.

The Grant Details

The selected winner will receive a grant of €5,000 to make their film, plus feedback and support from a professional trail running filmmaker throughout the production process.

Run the Alps may also be able to help with logistics and/or accommodation for filmmakers based outside the Alps. If this would be helpful, please let us know in your application—it won’t affect your chances of being selected.

Deadlines

  • The deadline for submissions is June 20th.
  • The winning applicant will be notified by June 30th
  • Final films must be delivered by October 1st to be eligible for inclusion in the festival and for the chance to be screened at the Kendal Mountain Festival.

For additional information, please download the Submission Guidelines

All submissions and any questions should be sent to: filmfestival@runthealps.com.
