Run the Alps Film Festival 2026

Welcome to the 2026 edition of the Run the Alps film festival, brought to you in partnership with On and Tailwind.

Our festival is a celebration of trail running in the Alps, showcasing inspiring stories, breathtaking landscapes and the deep connection between runners and their surroundings.

Since our pilot festival in 2022, we’ve grown to support emerging filmmakers through yearly grants, while also sharing classic Alps films featuring some of trail running’s most well-known athletes.

In line with our mission of creating an inclusive trail running community, our festival is available to watch free of charge, for everyone.

This year’s line up includes:

  • Two new films, funded by grants: For Sisters Who Run and We Belong
  • A film from our community partner, Alpine Run Project: Further Together
  • Two Alps classics: Facing the Tor and La Pointe Pessey

Ready to kick back and go for a big trail running tour of the Alps? Great!

Grab a croissant, pour yourself a cafe au lait, kick back and enjoy.

For Sisters Who Run

Filmmaker: Ainslie Senfuka

For Sisters Who Run follows three members of ASRA Club – a UK based community centering Muslim women in sports, wellness, and sisterhood – on a shared trail running journey in the Alps. For these women, movement is more than physical – it’s spiritual, emotional, and communal. In a space that often sidelines them, they choose to take up space, on their own terms. This is not a quest for medals – it’s a story about visibility, sanctuary, and running as an essential act of presence.

Facing the Tor

Filmmakers: Alexis Berg and Julien Raison

In September 2024, ultra-trail legend François D’Haene triumphed in the grueling 330 km Tor des Géants. On one side: François, the undisputed master of 100-mile races and four-time winner of the UTMB and Diagonale des Fous. On the other: the Tor des Géants — an ultra-trail like no other, spanning 330 km through the rugged peaks and unforgiving terrain of Italy’s Aosta Valley.

This documentary by Alexis Berg and Julien Raison recounts his incredible path to victory, defying all doubts, two years of injuries and a menacing letter received mid-race…

We Belong

Filmmaker: Milo Zanecchia

We Belong examines the current state of adaptive athlete participation in trail running, as the sport begins to reckon with who it truly makes space for.

Participation is increasing, driven by advocates and athletes such as Zach Friedley and Dani Aravich of Born to Adapt, and major races like the UTMB are taking meaningful steps toward inclusion. Still, important work remains.

Further Together

Filmmaker: Nathan Phua, Alpine Run Project

Year 3 of the Alpine Run Project is here! Watch young athletes from diverse backgrounds push limits, take on new trails and go #FurtherTogether. From the streets to the peaks, this is their journey of community, connection and growth.

The Alpine Run Project takes young people from inner cities to the mountains, where they learn they go further together.

La Pointe Pessey

Filmmaker: Alex Chambet, Glace Noire Films

In her village of Le Grand-Bornand (France), nestled at the foot of the Pointe Percée, Iris Pessey is preparing for a challenge that resonates far beyond the summits: to set a record climb on the mountain she’s cherished since childhood. Between intense training sessions and silent doubts, Iris draws on her roots, her memories and her determination for her attempt.
