Castelnuovo Nigra is the start point for this race in northwest Italy, between Aosta and Turin. ‘La Bella Dormiente’, or Sleeping Beauty, is the name of the mountain range which this race traverses – if you look carefully, it forms the profile of a sleeping woman!
The course is very demanding and technical, so plenty of experience over steep and rocky mountain trails is recommended before entering.
