Located in the Valais Alps, Switzerland, high above the Rhône valley in the resort of Nendaz, the Inalpe Dynafit 2.0 trail race includes four race formats. Serving as the summer iteration of the celebrated winter ski-mountaineering race, Inalpe carries over the same philosophy where serious competition is entirely optional but a festive atmosphere is mandatory. The event winds through the region’s distinctive alpine terrain: high-mountain paths, open pastures, and passages around notable landmarks including the majestic 3,335 m high Rosablanche. The climbing here is steep and demanding, with routes offering consistent alpine exposure and sweeping vistas of the jagged, snow-capped peaks of the region.
Inalpe 2.0 has a range of formats, from the flagship 42 km Marathon de la Ros’, which climbs 3,500 meters, to the more accessible Roi de Balavaux course which climbs 860 m over 15.5 km. In between the two, there is the mid-distance 30 km Reflets Alpins, with 1,900 m of climbing. Each course traverses the same distinctive Valaisan terrain, showcasing the sweeping vistas that include alpine trails, panoramic ridges, and technical climbs that capture the raw, celebratory spirit of the local summer trail scene. There is also a youth event for children aged 0-13 years which allows the whole family to participate in the weekend.
Nendaz sits within easy reach of major Swiss transport hubs, offering access from cities like Sion and the wider Valais region and within a 2 hour drive of Geneva. The area has long been renowned for its traditional alpine culture and heritage, deeply tied to the seasonal movement of cows to high mountain pastures (l’inalpe). The region combines this rich agricultural history with rugged, high-altitude terrain that demands your full attention on foot.
