Stairways to Heaven – Pipeline Vertical Race

Starting off in the village of Piotta, in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, the course follows a funicular track and pipeline up to the Piora mountain station. Runners must tackle 4,261 steps, with a 90 percent gradient, up the steepest staircase in Europe. Only 100 bibs are available for the race, so you have to sign up early to get a place.
