The Valserine Trail is a loop out of Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, in the department of Ain, to the west of Geneva in the heart of the Natural Park of Haut-Jura. A shorter race, the ‘Mélée les Eaux’, takes place on the same day. Both courses contain many ups and downs, resulting in considerable accumulated altitude gain.
