Bernese Oberland Traverse – An Amazing Way to Witness the Swiss Alps!

The Grand Bernese Oberland Traverse Guided

Highly recommended!

Why

It was listed as moderate (2 out of 4 mountains) and distances were not too long. Our longest day was 14 miles and most were 9-12 miles. There was a lot of vertical (375 ft/mile average), but very doable for a moderate trail runner. Spectacular views with an occasional bail-out option, if needed.

Advice

Don’t be too concerned about pace. The uphills and most technical downhills are hiked; the flats and most downhills are runs.

Highlight

Climbing above the cloud layer on one pass, with views of mountain tops and blue skies above the cloud layer. Oh, and the cows and goats!!
