We did the circuit in 6 days on the trail with a rest day in Courmayeur. The vertical and terrain are challenging. We power walked most of it with poles and ran very little. We still had plenty of time to complete each day comfortably, with time for a lunch stop mid way and a shower and a rest at the end of each day before dinner.
The views are amazing and we deliberately took our time to savior where we were and taking in the sights rather than treating it like a “run”.
We pre ordered our lunch some days and wished we hadn’t as there were much better options most days along the trail.
Why
We were travelling to the UK from New Zealand for a wedding and decided to do an adventure to make the trip halfway across the world worthwhile. We are older experienced trail runners (late 50's) slowing down but still love tough challenges and beautiful places. We looked around and chose this.
Advice
Carry your passport on your person. We left ours in Chamonix and had trouble in Italy at the accommodation.
Highlight
The wonderful vistas of the alps and glaciers.
